Die Lotosblume

Artist Statement:
This classical German song, Die Lotosblume by Robert Schumann, reflects my life’s journey. Before college, I was socially awkward and only came into my own when I found likeminded people. I went to small schools that didn’t have as many students as other schools, so I felt a little isolated throughout my school years. Now that I’m about to graduate from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with a concentration in voice, with honors, and there are significantly more students to interact with, I have a small but incredible group of friends. In this classical song’s lyrics, it describes a lotus flower that shies away from the sun’s light, yet blooms as it’s embraced by the moonlight. I too have bloomed as time progressed-singing in five languages, having attained an Associate’s Degree Cum Laude in Fine Arts-Voice, about to graduate with my Bachelor’s, having become an accomplished cook, enjoying success as a writer, and having my first job- as another stage of my life has begun. Don’t give up! Have faith, the best is yet to come.
