ADHD/Executive Function Support

ASD and ADHD can both present with significant executive function issues that can impair performance at school, at work and on the job.  Thrive – which started its life as a comprehensive center for treating ADHD – offers a variety of treatment approaches that can help the older teen and young adult become better organized, more productive and more confident in their ability to tackle the demands of daily life.

The ADHD/ Executive Function Evaluation

Clinical interviews and assessment scales identify the specific challenges facing the person with ADHD and lay the foundation for customized treatment.

Medication Management

Medications can play an important role in improving executive functioning, as well as the mood, anxiety and sleep issues that are often comorbid with ADHD.  Resolution of these symptoms leads to improved performance and increased quality of life at school, home and work.

Executive Function Coaching/ Accountability Partner

Building structure, consistency and adaptations through frequent one-on-one skills building and activity tracking helps the person set goals, work more efficiently, follow through and meet with more frequent successes.

Academic Accommodations Support

Accommodations in higher education can help your child get the necessary support for testing and collegiate academics that will improve their chances of academic success.  Staff can build a relationship with school to help determine specific resources for supporting the young adult’s schoolwork; and can complete all documentation necessary to obtain appropriate services from the school.

Parent Skills Training Groups
Family/Parent Coaching

Help for parents of neurodivergent teens and young adults by exploring family dynamics, getting mutual support, and developing approaches to create a more harmonious household that better supports the young adult’s movement towards independence.

Emotional Self-Regulation Skills Training

Emotional dysregulation is a frequent partner to executive dysfunction that can disrupt one’s sense of inner stability as well as the ability to successfully engage in social, academic and work activities. Thrive offers both group and individual services including the Emotional Self Regulation Group, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Insight Oriented (Talk) Therapy.  Our Movement Group takes a more physical approach that grounds the young adult in their bodies – an important platform for self-awareness, emotional self expression and self management.

Substance and Screen Overuse

Group and individual services focus on helping the young adult gain an awareness of how substance and electronics addictions have become unhealthy coping tools for managing the anxiety and small “t” trauma associated with life as a neurodivergent individual; and on developing  emotional substitutes that take the person out of numbing and avoidance patterns and into confident and resilient strategies for dealing with the stress of adult life.
