THERAPIST PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITY 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Thrive Emerge -- a unique treatment setting serving the needs of high-functioning, neurodivergent (ASD, ADHD) teens and young adults struggling with the transition to independence -- is seeking a psychotherapist (PhD, PsyD, LCPC, LCSW) to become a part of our multidisciplinary clinical team and to help manage a vibrant treatment program.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

• Knowledge of and clinical experience with neurodivergent populations

• Ease with a neurodiversity approach that validates the unique worldview of each individual and focuses on strength building rather than “fixing what is broken”

• Diagnostic and treatment planning skills

• Training and clinical experience with DBT, CBT and depth therapy.

• Experience working on a multi-disciplinary treatment team where treatment planning and decision-making is shared among all clinical staff.

• The professional (minimum of 5 years in clinical practice) and personal maturity to work with a complex population.

The successful candidate will enjoy:

  • Working with a lively clinical team of neurodivergent enthusiasts each with a combination of personal, parenting and professional experience in neurodivergence Working in a non-traditional outpatient setting -- a peer-based approach that combines work in an outdoor setting with brief mental health and life skills interventions

• Providing “real time” therapy to help quickly resolve challenges and setbacks

• Using humor and playfulness with patients as a foundation for connection and healing, while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries

• Utilizing creative, out-of-the-box and sometimes on-the-spot problem solving

• A fast-paced clinical environment where the “group think” of a coordinated team effectively meets the rapidly changing needs of this population

• A family-focused approach that engages with and guides parents, as well as the teen and young adult patients.

JOB SPECIFICS

1. Job Type: Part-time

2. This is primarily a therapist position. Job responsibilities will include:

• Providing psychotherapy services including:

▪ 1.5-3 hours weekly of on-site care at The Village in Catonsville

▪ remote sessions by zoom

• Attending clinical team meetings three hours weekly by zoom. Clinical meetings are paid at 1/2 the hourly clinical rate.

• Actively engaging in team text threads for frequent, real time communications regarding patient setbacks and progress

• Actively engaging with the treatment team, patients and parents to manage clinical emergencies

3. Compensation will be set commensurate with training, licensure and experience.

4. Required clinical experience:

• 5 years in a clinical role delivering psychotherapy services

• 1 year working in a clinical role with clients with Autism or ADHD

5. Depending on experience, there is potential for growth into a leadership position.

6. Expected clinical hours:

• Thrive will ensure an initial compensation for 5 hours of clinical work weekly

• Thrive will actively refer clients to rapidly build the caseload.

• A weekly caseload of 15 hours is a minimum expectable target.

• The clinician can build as large a caseload as they see fit.

7. Benefits:

• Turn-key operation for the clinician: all issues pertaining to scheduling, billing, reception, customer service, the electronic medical record system and IT are managed by Thrive’s central administrative department.

• Supervision with highly experienced senior clinicians with expertise in neurodivergence.

• Professional development assistance for CE credits for the clinician to build an expertise in neurodivergence

8. Schedule:

• Typically Monday to Friday

• Most clinicians choose to work daytime hours

• Weekend and evening hours are options as well

9. License/Certification:

• Required: Active clinical licensure in Maryland

• Required: Active board certification by a national professional board

10. Hybrid work location:

• Remote by Zoom for most therapy sessions

• 1.5-3 hours weekly in Catonsville, MD 21228
